On November 17, 2022, ARL joined 64 higher education organizations in urging Congress to pass legislation to provide permanent protection for young, undocumented people who were brought to the US as children (sometimes referred to as “Dreamers”). The urgency for Congress to act during the last weeks of the 117th Congress is due in part to recent court rulings against the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program, which protects hundreds of thousands of eligible people from deportation.
