Joseph Meisel Named University Librarian at Brown University

Brown University has appointed Joseph Meisel as the Joukowsky Family University Librarian, effective October 26, 2018.

Meisel was previously deputy provost at Brown for eight years and served as interim university librarian for the past three months. Before going to Brown he was a program officer for research universities and humanistic scholarship at The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation.

As Joukowsky Family University Librarian, Meisel succeeds Harriette Hemmasi, who was appointed dean of the library at Georgetown University effective August 1, 2018, after leading the Brown University Library for 13 years.
