Department: Digital Library Program Rank and Salary: Assistant Librarian to Associate Librarian ($56,665 - $86,788) Position Availability: Immediately Application deadline for first consideration: September 2, 2020   Position Duration: Temporary (one-year) position   The UCLA Library seeks a collaborative, enthusiastic, and creative individual who is experienced in digital pedagogy and has experience working in a large public higher education institution.   Reporting to the Head of the Digital Library Program, the Digital Curriculum Program Coordinator (DCPC) will develop a curricular support program for the next two academic years that connects the digital resources curated and published by the Digital Library Program with teaching on the UCLA campus. The DCPC will address a current and urgent need to support instructional design and learning modules for remote instruction, online learning, and blended teaching models. The incumbent will use skills of instructional design and multimedia development to leverage the wide array of digital content from the UCLA Library and the Film and Television Archive to develop effective teaching and learning activities for use by UCLA faculty and instructors.   The DCPC will work collaboratively within the UCLA Library, which has a wide array of instructional support and outreach specialists spanning several departments and teams. The DCPC will serve as an outreach specialist for using open access and digital primary sources in teaching across the UCLA campus. The incumbent will seek out partnerships with research and teaching organizations across the UCLA campus, including but not limited to the Digital Research Consortium, the Digital Humanities program, the Graduate School of Education and Information Studies, the UCLA Excellence in Pedagogy and Innovative Classrooms Program, and the UCLA Online Teaching & Learning Program. Working with scholars across the UCLA campus, the DCPC will provide support for incorporating digital resources into the curriculum and will provide pathways for campus entities to use library services (Data Science, ML/AI, GIS, AR/VR).  The DCPC will demonstrate a high degree of collaboration and diplomacy as well as demonstrate effective problem analysis and creative solutions.   Position Duties Reporting to the Head of the Digital Library Program, the incumbent will:  
  • Develop a plan for developing and implementing curriculum materials related to UCLA courses for the upcoming academic year (AY2021)
  • Develop an assessment plan for Library curricular engagement
  • Based on assessment and learning during AY2021, develop a plan for further work that the Digital Library Program can undertake for the next academic year (AY2122)
  • Develop remote instruction support that advances equity, diversity, and inclusion at UCLA
  • Apply advanced professional instructional design and technology skills to create models for effective use of digital content for remote instruction, working closely with instructors, faculty, and academic stakeholders
  • Coordinate with library colleagues to conduct outreach to and support faculty and instructors related to online instruction
  • Promote digital pedagogy, including consulting with faculty and instructors to develop new digitally focused assignments based on available hardware and software
  • Initiate, build, and nurture excellent relationships with a diverse university community to assist instructors in planning effective, innovative, and sustainable digital instruction
  • Lead presentations and workshops to demonstrate digital pedagogy in practice
  • Assist discipline faculty in organizing course content, embedding tools, and adding open educational resources (OERs) to their courses using the current Learning Management System
  The successful candidate will be committed to promoting and enhancing diversity through engagement with and promotion of the UCLA Principles of Community (http://www.ucla.edu/about/mission-and-values).   Description of Unit The UCLA Digital Library Program works collaboratively within the UCLA Library, across campus, and with a broad range of partners to preserve and provide enhanced access to local and global cultural heritage materials in support of the University’s teaching, learning, research and service mission. The Program provides for the storage and dissemination of digital objects, including text, images, audio, and video in their various digital manifestations and combinations.
