Association Meeting, Spring 2016

The 168th Association of Research Libraries (ARL) Meeting, a joint meeting of ARL and the Canadian Association of Research Libraries (CARL), convened Tuesday–Thursday, April 26–28, 2016, in Vancouver, British Columbia. This meeting marked the quinquennial joint meeting of the two associations.

Under the leadership of ARL president Larry Alford of University of Toronto and CARL president Martha Whitehead of Queen’s University, the program featured a variety of engaging sessions centered on the theme of global partnerships. The meeting host, Ingrid Parent of University of British Columbia (UBC), planned a lovely reception on the UBC campus on Wednesday, April 27, and she and her staff enjoyed welcoming everyone to Vancouver.

In conjunction with the joint meeting, the CARL Board of Directors convened on Sunday, April 24, and Wednesday, April 27. The ARL Board of Directors met on Monday, April 25, and Thursday, April 28. CARL committees and the CARL General Meeting convened on Monday, April 25. ARL committees and design teams met on Tuesday, April 26. ARL and CARL members were welcome to attend the committee meetings of either association.
