ARL Liaison Supervisors Meeting
Monday, June 30, 2014 @ 10:00 am – 12:00 pm
ARL’s Transforming Research Libraries initiative is sponsoring a meeting in conjunction with the upcoming American Library Association (ALA) Annual Conference to convene ARL liaison supervisors and continue the conversation around new roles for liaison librarians. The meeting, the second of its kind, will be led by Rita Vine, head of faculty and student engagement at University of Toronto, in collaboration with Francine DeFranco, interim assistant vice provost for university libraries at the University of Connecticut.
For those who oversee staff involved in liaison roles, the challenge exists to build a new structure of faculty and student support that engages current liaisons in innovative and sustainable ways. How can libraries encourage liaisons to embrace new roles and new ways of working across their organizations? What strategies can be established to build new skills? What structural changes are needed to establish collaborative, cooperative workplaces to support faculty and student research and emerging academic and institutional needs?
The meeting will commence with a panel of liaisons and liaison supervisors, followed by small-table discussions around the following issues: liaison training & development; assessment; and structure.
There is no registration fee to attend this meeting, but registration itself is required. The target audience is top-level liaison supervisors from ARL libraries. Please register by completing and submitting the form below.
