The Association of Research Libraries (ARL) is offering a series of free webcasts that present the findings from the latest SPEC surveys and allow webcast participants to discuss trends with the survey authors. A 45-minute webcast will follow the publication of each SPEC Kit in 2017.
The next webcast in this series will cover the Diversity and Inclusion survey (SPEC Kit 356), which explores how ARL member library diversity plans have changed since 2010. The survey gathered information about the following topics: current recruitment and retention strategies that aim to increase the number of minority librarians in research libraries, staff development programs that foster an inclusive workplace and climate, how diversity programs have changed, and how libraries assess these efforts.
The webcast will review survey findings reported by ARL member libraries in May 2017. The survey authors will:
- provide a snapshot of diversity and inclusion activities undertaken by ARL member libraries;
- show a sample of exemplary programs, plans, and resources; and
- review recommendations and advice from respondents for the recruitment and retention of diverse employees.
The webcast will also include a discussion of promising trends and conclude with a question-and-answer session. Read the freely available SPEC Kit 356 in advance and have your questions ready.
