LibQUAL+ is pleased to announce that Mzumbe University and the San Diego Law Library are receiving in-kind grants in 2014. The selection of grantees was based on financial need, contribution to the growth of LibQUAL+, and potential for surfacing best practices in the area of library service improvements.
Mzumbe University
Situated in the foothills of the Uluguru Mountains in Morogoro, Tanzania, Mzumbe University was established in 1953 as a government training school and became a full-fledged university in 2006 serving 6,000 students. Under the direction of assistant librarian Sarah Mwambalaswa, the university library will implement a new Swahili translation of LibQUAL+ and use the results to change service delivery.
San Diego Law Library
The San Diego Law Library, one of 58 California county public law libraries, is dedicated to helping people learn about and use the law to solve problems, access justice, and take advantage of opportunities. The library serves San Diego County residents through four locations associated with the San Diego Superior Court system. Library director John Adkins and staff are looking forward to conducting their first patron survey and using the results to improve service quality and create new services.

LibQUAL+ is guided by a steering committee. Information about applying for a 2015 LibQUAL+ grant is available on the LibQUAL+ website. The deadline for submitting a grant application is December 12, 2014.
LibQUAL+® is a suite of services that libraries use to solicit, track, understand, and act upon users’ opinions of service quality. These services are offered to the international library community by the Association of Research Libraries. The program’s centerpiece is a rigorously tested web-based survey bundled with training that helps libraries assess and improve library services, change organizational culture, and market the library.
