ARL Board Appoints Sarah Shreeves as Member Representative to CNI Steering Committee

Sarah Shreeves has been appointed as the Association of Research Libraries (ARL) member representative to the Coalition for Networked Information (CNI) Steering Committee for the 2023–2026 term. The ARL Board of Directors approved this appointment on June 28, 2023.

Sarah Shreeves is the Alice Sheets Marriott Dean of Libraries for The University of Utah, as of June 2023. Shreeves previously served as vice dean of libraries at The University of Arizona, associate dean for digital strategies and faculty affairs at University of Miami Libraries, co-coordinator of the Scholarly Commons and associate professor of library administration at University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign Libraries, and project manager for integrated library system migration at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Libraries. She serves on multiple national and international advisory boards and steering committees, including the Academic Preservation Trust (APTrust) Governing Board and the US Repository Network Steering Group.

Two other ARL member representatives serve on the CNI Steering Committee: Dale Askey, Vice-Provost & Chief Librarian, Library and Museums, University of Alberta, serving 2021–2024, and Lisa R. Carter, university librarian and dean of libraries, University of Michigan, serving 2022–2025. Representatives serve three-year terms; the CNI Steering Committee meets throughout the year to guide CNI programming and development.

CNI is a joint initiative of ARL and EDUCAUSE that promotes the use of information technology to advance scholarship and education. Over 200 institutions representing higher education, publishing, information technology, scholarly and professional organizations, foundations, and libraries and library organizations make up CNI’s members.
