Columbus, Ohio, has been chosen as the site for the 2016 International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA) World Library and Information Congress. More than 4,000 people from 120 countries are expected to attend the event, which will be held August 11–18, 2016, at the Greater Columbus Convention Center.
Carol Pitts Diedrichs, vice provost and director of university libraries at The Ohio State University and ARL president, said in the press release announcing the site selection, “We are delighted to host IFLA in 2016. Columbus, in particular, is a diverse, innovative, and progressive library environment that we want to share with librarians from inside and outside the United States.”
The Columbus library community and the convention and visitors bureau, Experience Columbus, will be working with the US National Organizing Committee to host the 2016 IFLA World Congress. ARL is a member of the US National Organizing Committee, along with the American Library Association, the Medical Library Association, the Special Libraries Association, and other US-based library organizations.
